Welcome to the New Zealand Certificate in Assessment Practice Level 4. This course develops skills, knowledge and good practice when undertaking assessment of learners in various contexts such as the adult and tertiary education sector, industry or workplace environment, or with young people in their transition from school to work. There are four modules to work through. Each module consists of a number of eLearning topics to explore. The modules include:

  1. Module One - Assessment theory
  2. Module Two - Pre-assessment moderation 
  3. Module Three - Carrying out assessment
  4. Module Four - Carrying out verification

Welcome to the New Zealand Certificate in Adult and Tertiary Teaching Level 5! This qualification is for individuals aspiring to or in a career in adult and tertiary teaching, including vocational education and training. It is intended for those who already have a qualification or equivalent experience in their primary discipline e.g. a trade. It represents the base level qualification for a professional adult and tertiary teaching practitioner.

At the end of this course you will be able to: 

  • Design learning that is pedagogically and culturally appropriate to meet specified learning outcomes in diverse contexts.
  • Facilitate quality learner-centred teaching that respects the mana and diverse cultural backgrounds of adult learners, and the wider educational and societal context.
  • Use a range of facilitation and teaching strategies, including technology-enhanced teaching and learning.
  • Embed literacy and numeracy skills appropriate to the demands of the programme and the needs of the learners.
  • Enhance learning through the application of a range of assessment, feedback, and moderation practices.
  • Evaluate own professional practice and develop and implement plans to improve it.
